Tips to protect your face from puimples

The problem is that pesky pimples seem to rear their ugly little inflamed heads at the most inopportune times. It seems that acne appears on the day before prom, the morning of your wedding or when you are getting ready to go on that crucial first date with Mr. or Ms. Wonderful.

When you have that unexpected breakout, there are some things that you can do to minimize the inflammation that includes redness and swelling, or you can get rid of the pimple altogether.

There are over the counter remedies that work well or you may opt to visit your doctor. He or she can give you injections in the lesion which makes the pimple less noticeable, even invisible, almost immediately. However, if you want to use natural acne cures, you can try these things.

Drink plenty of water at least ninety ounces a day. Steam your face so as to open your pores and cleanse them – then rinse with cold water to close your pores and prevent further bacteria getting in there.

Eat more fruit and fresh veggies. Avoid overly processed and spicy food. Use natural ingredients such as tea tree oil and honey as these have anti bacterial properties.

Change your towels and bed clothing regularly and always remember to pat your skin dry rather than rub it dry as this will further irritate your skin.

Tips To Prevent Hair Loss

While Androgenetic Alopecia is the number one reason why individuals experience hair loss, it is not the only one. Medical conditions such as hypothyroidism, ringworm and fungal infections can cause hair loss. Certain medications such as blood thinners, gout medication, birth control pills and too much vitamin A can cause sudden or abnormal hair loss as can following a crash diet, sudden hormonal changes, chemotherapy and radiation. If you are taking prescription medications, talk to your doctor and find out if your medication is contributing to your hair loss.

At any given time 10% of our hair is in what is called a “resting phase” and after 2-3 months resting, hair falls out and new hair grows in its place. Some people, however, experience more hair loss than is normal.

Over here are some excellent resources on how to prevent further hair loss:

Avoid mega-doses of vitamin A. Too much vitamin A can cause your hair to fall out.

Exercise, do yoga, meditate or find some other practice that will help to reduce your anxiety and stress levels. If you wear pigtails, cornrows, use a curling iron, hair dryer or hot rollers, try changing your hair style to one that puts less pressure and stress on your hair and scalp.

If hot oil treatments or chemicals such as those used in permanents are causing inflammation to the scalp, discontinue their use, or reduce the number of times you are using them.

Use gentle shampoos and conditioners to avoid any unnecessary damage to your hair.

In men, herbs such as saw palmetto and licorice root help block the formation of DHT. The same holds true for supplementation with zinc. As an added benefit, studies show that these supplements can also help prevent prostate enlargement.

Massage your scalp with rosemary oil in an olive oil base. Both rosemary oil and massaging the scalp can stimulate the circulation in the scalp and promote hair growth. Again, if you are experiencing hair loss, check with your doctor to ensure that a more serious disorder isn’t the cause.

Dental care – for your teeths

Teethes are very important for everyone from birth to end of human life. Good dental health comprises brushing and flossing your teeth every day, and regular visits to a dentist or dental hygienist as well. Besides, people supplement their dental care with the use of products like mouthwash or advanced mouth care systems. You should keep it in mind that the lack of adequate dental care practices will result in cavities and gum disease.

It is generally advised that you use a toothbrush with softer bristles so as to protect your gums. Some people, however, prefer power brush systems that help break up plaque and bacteria in your mouth. But it takes more than brushing to keep your teeth in good health. Some other steps need to be taken to ensure that people do not lose their teeth as they become old.

To begin with, you should understand your own oral health needs, as your oral health depends on your diet, the type and amount of saliva in your mouth, your overall health and your oral hygiene routine. Try to follow a daily routine in consultation with your dentist.

As fluoride strengthens developing teeth in kids and prevents decay in adults, toothpastes and mouthwashes containing fluoride should be used. You should brush at least twice a day, if possible three times or after every meal. You should also floss at least twice a day. Brushing and flossing will remove plaque, a complex mass of bacteria that constantly forms on your teeth.

Limit the consumption of snacks and follow a balanced diet plan. Tobacco in any form will enhance the risk of oral cancer and cause stains on your teeth. Visit your dentist regularly and get your mouth examined.

What is migraine headache

The next topic in healthcaretipss blog is What is migraine headache.

A migraine headache is a form of vascular headache. Migraine headache is caused by a combination of vasodilatation (enlargement of blood vessels) and the release of chemicals from nerve fibers that coil around the blood vessels. During a migraine attack, the temporal artery enlarges.  Enlargement of the temporal artery stretches the nerves that coil around the artery and causes the nerves to release chemicals. The chemicals cause inflammation, pain, and further enlargement of the artery. The increasing enlargement of the artery magnifies the pain.

Migraine attacks commonly activate the sympathetic nervous system in the body. The sympathetic nervous system is often thought of as the part of the nervous system that controls primitive responses to stress and pain, the so-called “fight or flight” response. The increased sympathetic nervous activity in the intestine causes nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Sympathetic activity also delays emptying of the stomach into the small intestine and thereby prevents oral medications from entering the intestine and being absorbed. The impaired absorption of oral medications is a common reason for the ineffectiveness of medications taken to treat migraine headaches. The increased sympathetic activity also decreases the circulation of blood, and this leads to pallor of the skin as well as cold hands and feet. The increased sympathetic activity also contributes to the sensitivity to light and sound sensitivity as well as blurred vision.

Very soon we will discuss here the causes and symptoms  of migraine headache.

Low Fat Food Tips

You’ve probably heard that too much fat in your diet can increase your risk of developing heart disease. But how much is too much?

According to the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP), for the average healthy adult, daily intake of saturated fats should be less than 7 percent of the total daily calories and overall fat intake should be less than 35 percent of total daily calories. (NCEP says some individuals, such as patients with high triglycerides, may need a higher fat intake; consult with your doctor.)

Here are some suggestions from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the American Heart Association to put your diet more in line with those guidelines:

Read Nutrition Labels: Food labels show you how much fat is in a product, in terms of both grams and in terms of calories. Food labels also show you how much saturated fat is in a particular item, as well as the percentage of total calories that amount would represent for someone on a 2000 calorie/day diet. Be aware that even if a food claims to have “no cholesterol” on the front of the package, it may still be high in fat and saturated fat. So always read the fine print. (Read about “Food Labels”)

Cooking styles: Even healthy foods can turn into diet disasters if they’re fried or coated with butter and oil during cooking. Try to adapt to lower-fat cooking styles such as steaming, as well as stir-frying and baking with a minimum amount of oil. It’s also important to trim off any visible fat from meat before cooking.weight loss and diet pills

Portion size: It’s easy to overestimate the amount of food that makes up a “portion.” For example, if your diet plan calls for a 3-ounce portion of meat, that’s about the size of a deck of playing cards. Eating portions that are too large means you’re getting more fat than you should be.

Food choices: Another way to reduce the amount of fat in your diet is to increase your intake of fruits, vegetables and grains. (Read about “Fiber and Health”) Most fruits and vegetables are fat-free. (The exceptions are avocados, olives, and coconuts.) Pastas and breads are usually low in fat (read labels to make sure).
